This 3rd generation family farm has been operating in coffee production for over 120 years, with 97% of the originally purchased land designated to rainforest preservation. 6,000 of the 10,000 hectares have been donated back to the Costa Rican government to further the preservation of Central America’s largest natural preserve, La Amistad International Park. 300 hectares of the land is designated to organic farming with the remaining completed forested & abound in wildlife.
The farm’s location close to the border with Panama draws many indigenous people during harvest season, bringing their entire family. Roberto Montero shows his commitment to community, providing free housing and healthcare for migrant workers during picking season as well as over 100 full time jobs in coffee production as well as the farm’s dried fruit operations, annual employee celebrations and school supplies to support families.
